Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful purple highlights. The nose is refined and expressive, with dark berries, plum, cedar, graphite, and subtle floral and spice notes. On the palate, expect a medium- to full-bodied wine with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of blackcurrant, blackberry, and savory woodland nuances. The finish is long and poised, with the balance to age gracefully over the coming years, while also offering early charm compared with the grand vin.

Made in Saint-Julien on Bordeaux’s gravelly Left Bank, the wine benefits from terroir that promotes excellent drainage and helps ripen grapes evenly in warm vintages like 2022. As a second wine, it is typically crafted from selected parcels and younger vines associated with the estate, then vinified with the aim of reflecting the character of Ducru-Beaucaillou in a more accessible style.
