Cortese Nostru Carricante Siciliane Bio 2024 is a fresh, mineral-driven Sicilian white wine made from Carricante, one of the island’s most distinctive native grape varieties. Organic farming and a stainless-steel vinification preserve the grape’s naturally crisp, citrusy style and vibrant sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a pale golden color with green reflections. The nose is bright and inviting, with aromas of citrus, green apple, white peach, and Mediterranean herbs, lifted by a subtle mineral edge. The palate is fresh, juicy, and elegant, with lively acidity, good balance, and a clean, mineral finish. This is a wine best enjoyed while young for its energy and aromatic purity, though it should hold nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from southeastern Sicily, where warm Mediterranean days and cooler nights help Carricante develop ripe fruit while retaining its signature freshness and acidity. The vineyards are farmed organically with a strong focus on biodiversity and minimal intervention. Vinification is carried out primarily in stainless steel to protect the grape’s clean aromatics and terroir expression. The result is a precise, fruit-forward wine with a strong sense of freshness and regional identity.

Food & Serving
Excellent with shellfish, grilled fish, seafood pasta, light risottos, and fresh salads, especially dishes with citrus, herbs, or olive oil. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary.

Azienda Agricola Cortese is based in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria area of southeastern Sicily, a region known for its warm climate, limestone soils, and strong potential for organic viticulture. The estate was long run by Giovanna Cortese before being taken over in 2016 by Stefano and Marina Girelli from Trento. Since then, they have modernized the winery while respecting local tradition, combining contemporary winemaking with a clear commitment to sustainability. Today, Cortese is recognized for producing authentic, terroir-driven wines that reflect Sicily’s character with clarity and elegance.
