Cortes do Tua Reserva Tinto 2023 is a polished Douro red that brings together power, balance, and elegance in one glass. Crafted by the young duo Duarte da Costa and Ana de Almeida, it reflects both their international perspective and deep respect for the traditions of the Douro, with a strong focus on careful vineyard work and as-natural-as-possible farming.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, this Reserva opens with layered aromas of dark berries, cherry, and plum, lifted by balsamic nuances and subtle spicy oak. On the palate it is full-bodied yet velvety, with firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a refined, fruit-driven finish that lingers with impressive length. The wine has the structure to develop further in bottle, gaining complexity over the next few years as the fruit integrates with its savory and woody notes. Its balance of concentration and freshness suggests very good aging potential.

Production
The grapes come from Cortes do Tua’s 15 hectares of vineyards in the Douro Superior, around Pombal de Ansiães in Carrazeda de Ansiães, on the left bank of the Tua River. The red vineyards are planted on slopes at 300 to 400 meters above sea level, benefiting from excellent south- and west-facing sun exposure, while the estate works with parcel selection and hand harvesting throughout to preserve quality and precision in the fruit.

Food & Serving
This Reserva Tinto is an excellent match for grilled red meats, roast lamb, game, braised short ribs, and rich mushroom dishes. Serve it at 16–18°C; decanting for about 30–45 minutes is recommended to help the aromatics open and the tannins soften.
