Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut is an elegant, non-vintage sparkling wine from one of Italy’s most celebrated traditional-method appellations. Produced by the innovative Contadi Castaldi estate, it combines bright citrus freshness with a generous, refined texture and a long finish. The winery itself has an especially distinctive history, having been created through the transformation of a former brickworks in Franciacorta.

Tasting Notes
The wine is pale yellow with delicate green reflections and a lively, polished appearance. Its fresh, floral nose opens with notes of lime, citrus fruit, white peach and a subtle hint of green pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet refreshing, with a refined mousse and a pleasing balance between fruit, acidity and creamy texture. The finish is persistent and elegant. As a non-vintage Franciacorta, it is designed to offer immediate drinkability, while its extended lees ageing gives it the structure to develop further complexity over the next few years when stored well.

Production
Made in Franciacorta according to the region’s traditional bottle-fermentation method, this Brut undergoes approximately 20 days of primary fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The first seven months of maturation take place partly in stainless steel and partly in barriques, after which the wine rests on its lees in bottle for approximately 20 to 26 months. Specific grape varieties and harvesting methods are not provided; however, the extended lees ageing contributes to the wine’s refined texture and persistent finish.

Food & Serving
A versatile aperitif, this Franciacorta pairs beautifully with oysters, prawns, seafood salads, sushi and lightly smoked fish. Its freshness also complements soft cheeses, delicate poultry dishes and vegetable-based starters. Serve well chilled at approximately 6–8°C. Decanting is not recommended; instead, open carefully and serve in a tulip-shaped sparkling-wine glass to preserve both the mousse and the aromatic detail.

Contadi Castaldi is a respected Franciacorta producer known for combining craftsmanship with a modern, innovative approach to winemaking. The estate was established when Vittorio Moretti acquired and renovated a former brick factory, inspired in part by his wife Mariella’s childhood memories of the site. The transformation created an impressive 7,000-square-metre winery complex and helped give new purpose to an important piece of local heritage. Today, Contadi Castaldi is recognised as one of Franciacorta’s notable names, with a strong focus on quality, design and precise sparkling-wine production.
