Connetable Talbot is the second wine of Château Talbot, one of Saint-Julien’s most respected estates, offering a polished introduction to the elegance and structure of the appellation. The 2022 vintage brings together classic Bordeaux character with a more approachable, immediately enjoyable style, while still reflecting the pedigree of its grand vin.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful purple highlights. The nose leans toward blackcurrant, ripe plum, cedar, violet, and a subtle touch of spice and toast. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a smooth, balanced finish. Expect dark berries, graphite, and gentle oak notes, with enough concentration to age gracefully over the medium term, though it can also be enjoyed young for its fruit and charm.

Production
Produced in Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, the wine benefits from the appellation’s gravelly soils, which help ripen Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot while maintaining freshness and precision. The second wine is generally made from younger vines and parcels not selected for the grand vin, with careful harvesting and traditional Bordeaux vinification followed by maturation in oak barrels to add structure and refinement.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, mushroom dishes, and hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Cheddar. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for 30-60 minutes if opening young to allow the aromas and tannins to open up.
