Description

Conceito Vinhos White Port 10 Years Old is a refined, barrel‑aged white Port that showcases the cooler, high‑altitude vineyards of the Douro with remarkable freshness and complexity. Crafted from a blend of traditional Portuguese white varieties, it balances honeyed richness with bright acidity, making it as versatile as it is elegant. Aged for around a decade in oak casks, this wine offers a mature, nuanced expression of white Port that goes far beyond the usual aperitif.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 10-year-old white Port shows a deep golden to amber hue, with luminous reflections that hint at its time in wood. The nose is layered and expressive, offering notes of dried apricot, candied citrus peel, toasted almond, and chamomile, wrapped in gentle tones of vanilla, honeycomb, and subtle spice from long cask aging. On the palate, it is medium‑sweet yet beautifully balanced by a firm, lively acidity that keeps it precise and lifted. Flavors of baked apple, orange marmalade, preserved lemon, and roasted nuts unfold alongside hints of caramel, white flowers, and a delicate saline edge typical of Douro high‑altitude fruit. The texture is silky and mouth‑coating, with a long, complex finish. While fully ready to drink on release, this white Port can hold and further develop in bottle for several more years if stored correctly, gaining additional nutty and caramel nuances over time.

Production
Sourced from Conceito’s high‑altitude vineyards in the upper Douro, this white Port comes from a blend of traditional Portuguese varieties including Arinto, Códega do Larinho, Códega, Cerceal, Donzelinho Branco, Folgazão, Gouveio, Rabigato, and a touch of Sémillon. The vineyards are planted on poor, schistous soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate flavor, while the cooler conditions preserve acidity and aromatic finesse. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then gently pressed. Fermentation is stopped by the addition of high‑quality grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness. The wine is then aged in seasoned oak casks for around 10 years in the Douro, where slow oxidation builds complexity, deep color, and a harmonious integration of fruit, sweetness, and spice before blending and bottling.

Food & Serving
This 10-year-old white Port is superb as an aperitif, served chilled, and works beautifully with salted almonds, marcona nuts, olives, and hard cheeses such as aged Manchego or Portuguese São Jorge. Its rich, nutty and citrusy profile also makes it an excellent partner for foie gras, pâté, smoked fish, and richly flavored terrines, as well as desserts featuring citrus, almond, or custard—think lemon tart, crème brûlée, or almond cake. Serve at around 10–12°C; it can be enjoyed straight from the bottle without extensive decanting, though pouring it 10–15 minutes before serving helps it open up aromatically. It also shines in sophisticated Port‑based cocktails that call for a complex, aged white base.
