Description
Colterenzio Gewürztraminer Perelise 2024 is a finely tuned white wine from the cool, alpine-influenced vineyards of Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy. Named in homage to Beethoven’s famous piano piece “Für Elise,” it mirrors the music’s grace and nuance with its interplay of fragrance, texture, and freshness. This is a Gewürztraminer that balances opulence and precision, offering a refined alternative to heavier, more overtly aromatic styles.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Perelise 2024 shows a bright, luminous straw-yellow color with subtle golden reflections, hinting at its aromatic richness. The nose is expressive and layered, with pronounced notes of ripe apricot, lychee, and passion fruit, supported by delicate floral tones of rose petals and a whisper of exotic spices.
On the palate, this wine is both generous and poised: rich, almost creamy fruit is lifted by a clean, alpine freshness and a precise, mineral backbone. The flavors echo the nose—stone fruit and tropical nuances—yet remain beautifully balanced, never cloying. A gentle, persistent finish carries notes of spice and citrus zest. While crafted to be enjoyed in its youth for maximum aromatics over the next 2–4 years, it has the structure to evolve gracefully for a bit longer, gaining more honeyed and spicy complexity with short-term cellaring.
Production
Perelise is sourced from select hillside vineyards in Trentino-Alto Adige, where warm days and cool nights, combined with well-drained, calcareous and gravelly soils, help Gewürztraminer develop intense aromatics while preserving vibrant acidity. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to protect the delicate skins and varietal perfume. After gentle pressing, the must is clarified and fermented at controlled, cool temperatures in stainless steel to retain purity and freshness, followed by a period on the fine lees to enhance texture, depth, and aromatic complexity without overt oak influence.
Food & Serving
This Gewürztraminer is an excellent partner to aromatic and mildly spicy cuisines—think Thai or Vietnamese dishes with lemongrass, ginger, or coconut, as well as lightly spiced curries. It also pairs beautifully with rich patés, foie gras, mature soft cheeses, smoked fish, or simply as a contemplative aperitif. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally at 10–12°C, to allow the bouquet to open fully. Decanting is not necessary, but giving the wine a few minutes in the glass to warm and breathe will reward you with greater aromatic complexity.
