Colterenzio, Alto Adige Lafóa Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Colterenzio’s Lafóa Sauvignon Blanc is one of Alto Adige’s benchmark expressions of the variety, combining Alpine freshness with refined, oak-influenced complexity. Produced under the estate’s prestigious Lafóa label, it reflects the winery’s long-standing ambition to create age-worthy wines from carefully selected hillside vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Bright straw yellow in appearance, with a youthful green-gold sheen. The nose is expressive and layered, offering elderflower, ripe citrus, white peach and fresh herbs, alongside subtle mineral and smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet precise, with vibrant acidity, a silky texture and a long, saline finish. While delicious in its youth, the balance and structure allow it to develop greater honeyed, mineral and savoury complexity over the next several years when carefully cellared.

Production
The wine comes from Alto Adige’s elevated, steeply sloping vineyards, where cool Alpine nights preserve Sauvignon Blanc’s aromatic intensity and natural acidity. The Lafóa cuvée is made from hand-harvested grapes selected for concentration and balance. Fermentation and maturation take place with careful use of oak, adding texture and complexity while allowing the grape’s bright varietal character and the region’s mineral freshness to remain central.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. It is an excellent match for asparagus, artichoke and herb-based dishes, grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, goat’s cheese and poultry with creamy or citrus-led sauces. Decanting is not essential, although a short airing in a carafe can help reveal the wine’s layered aromas, particularly when served young.
