Colombaio di Cencio’s Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Montelodoli is a distinctive expression of Sangiovese from the heart of Gaiole in Chianti. Crafted from organically farmed vineyards and made with a focus on structure and finesse, it combines the classic depth of Chianti Classico with the added precision and ageing depth of Gran Selezione.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep yet brilliant ruby-red color. The nose is intense and layered, with ripe red fruit, warm spice, mineral nuances, and a refined touch of well-integrated oak. The palate is beautifully structured and immediately harmonious, with a slightly sweet impression of fruit, excellent balance, and a long, persistent finish. While already expressive, its concentration and frame suggest it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next several years.

Production
This wine comes from organically cultivated vineyards in Gaiole in Chianti, where Sangiovese benefits from the area’s classic Tuscan terroir and ideal conditions for producing fine, age-worthy wines. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with at least 50% whole-cluster fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. It then matures for around 24 months in used 500-litre tonneaux and large oak casks, followed by a further 6 months in bottle.

Food & Serving
Best served with hearty Tuscan dishes, grilled red meats, roasted lamb, game, and rich mushroom-based recipes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 hour before drinking to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open.
