Clos Montblanc Cava Castillo De Montblanc Brut Reserva 2022 is a polished Catalan sparkling wine with the depth and finesse that come from extended bottle ageing. Made by one of the pioneering names in Conca de Barberà, it combines fresh energy with the creamy complexity of a traditional reserva-style Cava.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, elegant straw-gold colour with a lively stream of fine bubbles. The nose offers fresh orchard fruit and citrus at first, followed by more developed notes of yeast, toasted bread, and a subtle nutty character from ageing on the lees. On the palate, it is crisp yet rounded, with a generous texture and a long, well-balanced finish. The mousse is fine and persistent, and the ageing brings extra depth and a more savory edge, making this a Cava that feels both vibrant and mature. It has the structure to drink beautifully now, while retaining enough complexity to remain appealing over the next few years.

Production
This Cava comes from DO Conca de Barberà in Catalonia, west of Barcelona, a region closely linked to the native Trepat grape and known for its distinctive local wine identity. Clos Montblanc works with a mix of indigenous and international varieties, and this wine is crafted using the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle followed by 18 to 24 months of ageing on the lees, which adds richness, finesse, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, ideally at 6–8°C, to preserve its freshness and fine mousse. It pairs especially well with tapas, fried seafood, shellfish, mild cheeses, roast chicken, or charcuterie, and can also be enjoyed as an aperitif. Decanting is not recommended for sparkling wine.

Clos Montblanc was founded in 1988 by the Carbonell Figueras family and quickly became one of the leading names in Conca de Barberà. Named after the historic town of Montblanc, the estate is recognized for helping bring attention to this lesser-known Catalan wine region while maintaining a traditional winemaking philosophy. Under winemaker Josep Valdrí, the producer has built a reputation for expressive wines that range from local varietal bottlings to well-crafted Cavas with strong regional character.
