Clos Floridène, Graves 2021

Clos Floridène Graves 2021 is a characterful red Bordeaux from the southern Graves appellation, combining the elegance of Cabernet-led fruit with the earthy, gently smoky signature of the region. Created by the celebrated Bordeaux winemaker Denis Dubourdieu, Clos Floridène has become known for producing refined, terroir-driven wines with impressive freshness and structure.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in appearance, the 2021 vintage opens with inviting aromas of ripe strawberry, liquorice and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, the tannins are polished yet present, balancing softness, power and freshness in the classic style of a fine Bordeaux. The wine is approachable with decanting, but its structure and fruit concentration should allow it to develop further over the next several years.

Production
Clos Floridène encompasses 18 hectares in Pujols-sur-Ciron, in the southernmost part of the Graves region between Barsac and Sauternes. The vineyards were re-established in 1982 by Denis Dubourdieu and benefit from the gravelly, well-drained soils traditionally associated with Graves. The grapes undergo a long maceration lasting around two to three weeks, followed by 12 months of maturation in oak barrels, approximately one-third of which are new.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, duck, mushroom dishes, or mature hard cheeses. Decant the wine for around 30–60 minutes before serving, particularly when enjoying it in its youth, to soften the tannins and reveal its smoky, red-fruited character.
