Clos Floridène, Graves 2019

Clos Floridène Graves 2019 is a refined red Bordeaux from the southern Graves appellation, combining the region’s classic gravelly character with the elegance and precision associated with Denis Dubourdieu. Tasting Notes
The wine presents a deep ruby-red colour. On the nose, it reveals inviting aromas of ripe strawberry, liquorice and a subtle smoky note, with hints of dark fruit and gentle spice adding complexity. On the palate, the tannins are polished and supple, bringing both structure and a sense of softness. Its concentration is supported by refreshing acidity, giving the wine the balance and energy typical of well-made Bordeaux. The 2019 can be enjoyed after a short period of cellaring, while further development over the next several years should bring greater harmony and savoury complexity.

Production
Clos Floridène’s 18 hectares are situated in Pujols-sur-Ciron, in the southern part of Graves between Barsac and Sauternes. The vineyards were replanted and reorganised in 1982 under Denis Dubourdieu, whose work helped shape the estate’s modern identity. The grapes undergo a long maceration of approximately two to three weeks to extract colour, flavour and structure, followed by 12 months of maturation in oak barrels, around one-third of which are new.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, grilled veal and hearty mushroom dishes. It also works well with classic Bordeaux-inspired cuisine, including slow-cooked beef or dishes featuring herbs and roasted root vegetables. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, particularly when opening the wine young, to soften the tannins and open the smoky, fruit-driven aromas.

Clos Floridène is located in Pujols-sur-Ciron, at the southern edge of the Graves region, and covers approximately 18 hectares. The estate was significantly redeveloped in 1982 by Denis Dubourdieu, one of Bordeaux’s most influential modern winemakers, whose focus on precise vineyard work, careful extraction and considered oak ageing established Clos Floridène as a respected name in the appellation.
