Château Rocheyron 2016 is a striking Saint-Émilion red that combines power, precision, and limestone-driven elegance in a generous 3-liter format. Built on old-vine Merlot with a measured touch of Cabernet Franc, it reflects both the character of a cool terroir and a meticulous, uncompromising approach to winemaking.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated ruby color. The nose is expressive yet refined, with dark cherry, blackberry, graphite, and a subtle mineral edge that speaks to the chalky soils. On the palate, the wine is intense and focused, with a dense but silky texture, ripe and exact tannins, and a long, fresh finish marked by limestone tension and finesse. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should evolve beautifully over the next decade and beyond.

Production
The vineyards are located on the limestone plateau west of Saint-Émilion, where old Merlot vines and a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc are rooted in lively, well-drained soils. Farming follows biodynamic principles, and the grapes are harvested by hand in small parcels to preserve precision and quality. In the cellar, fermentation takes place spontaneously, followed by aging in French oak barrels to lend structure and polish without overpowering the wine’s natural energy.

Food & Serving
Château Rocheyron 2016 pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, truffle dishes, and hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if enjoying it young, especially from the magnum-sized 3-liter bottle, to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
