Description
Château Rioublanc Crémant de Bordeaux Brut Nature is a dry, elegantly sculpted sparkling wine from the heart of Bordeaux, crafted without any added dosage (sugar) to showcase pure fruit and terroir. This is Crémant in its most honest form: crisp, linear and refreshingly precise. For those who love Champagne-style structure but want something a little more artisanal and characterful, this bottle is a standout.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Crémant de Bordeaux shows a pale lemon color with silvery highlights and a fine, persistent bead of bubbles. The nose is delicate yet expressive, offering notes of green apple, crisp pear, lemon zest and white flowers, with subtle hints of fresh brioche and chalky minerality.
On the palate, it is bone dry and racy, as you’d expect from a Brut Nature, with high, mouthwatering acidity and a clean, feather-light mousse. Flavors of citrus, green apple and crunchy stone fruit are layered with a gentle yeasty complexity from time on lees, giving a refined texture without ever feeling heavy. The finish is long, saline and very precise, making this an excellent aperitif and a versatile food wine. While intended to be enjoyed in its vibrant youth over the next 2–3 years, it will hold nicely for a bit longer, gaining a touch more creaminess and brioche character with short-term cellaring.
Production
Château Rioublanc is situated in the rolling countryside of Bordeaux, where clay-limestone soils and a temperate Atlantic climate provide ideal conditions for fresh, aromatic base wines for sparkling production. Grapes are picked by hand at relatively low potential alcohol to preserve acidity and purity of fruit, then gently pressed to obtain only the finest juice. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to lock in aromatics, followed by the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle) second fermentation in bottle. The wine then rests on its lees for an extended period to build texture and complexity before riddling and disgorgement, with no dosage added, resulting in the Brut Nature style that highlights the estate’s terroir with clarity and precision.
Food & Serving
This Brut Nature style is a natural partner for clean, delicate dishes where freshness is key. Pair it with oysters, shrimp and shellfish platters, sushi and sashimi, or simply a plate of fresh goat cheese and lightly salted almonds. It also works beautifully with tempura, grilled white fish, ceviche or lightly dressed salads. Serve well-chilled at about 6–8°C (43–46°F) to emphasize its brightness and fine bubbles. A brief 5–10 minutes in the glass is enough for it to open up; decanting is not necessary, but using a good tulip-shaped sparkling wine glass will help concentrate the aromas.
