Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, radiant golden colour that immediately signals its concentration and maturity. The nose is generous and layered, with aromas of honey, toasted almonds, ripe pineapple, and a hint of exotic fruit. On the palate, the wine unfolds in rich waves of mango, papaya, and mandarin, supported by a luxurious, almost creamy texture. Despite its sweetness, there is a fine line of acidity that keeps everything lifted and elegant. The finish is long, intense, and honeyed, with lingering notes of sun-ripened fruit. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and the 2016 vintage should continue to develop beautifully over many years.

Production
Château Rieussec is located in the heart of Sauternes, where morning mists and warm afternoon sunshine create ideal conditions for noble rot, or botrytis cinerea, to develop. The estate’s gravelly and clay-limestone soils help provide structure and finesse, while the grapes are typically harvested by hand in several selective passes to ensure only perfectly botrytised berries are picked. Vinification is carried out with great precision to preserve freshness, aromatic purity, and the natural richness of the fruit.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine well chilled at around 8–10°C. It is a classic partner for foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, tarte Tatin, or simply enjoyed on its own as a luxurious finale to a special meal. Decanting is generally not necessary, though opening the bottle a little in advance can help the aromas fully express themselves.
