Château Rauzan Ségla, Margaux 2021

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2021 is a refined Margaux classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification. Owned by the Chanel group since 1994, the estate is one of the appellation’s leading names, celebrated for wines that combine Margaux’s signature elegance with remarkable precision, depth and finesse.

Tasting Notes
The wine opens with an expressive bouquet of redcurrants, blackcurrants, fresh roses, cedar and a delicate touch of pink pepper. On the palate, it is poised and beautifully precise, offering mineral depth and an impressive balance between ripe fruit, floral nuances and subtle spice. Silky, polished tannins provide structure without heaviness, while the long, refined finish reflects the graceful character for which Margaux is renowned. With its concentration, freshness and finely integrated tannins, the 2021 Château Rauzan-Ségla has excellent ageing potential. It can be enjoyed after careful decanting in its youth, but will develop greater complexity and aromatic depth over the next 10–20 years, and potentially beyond in a well-stored cellar.

Production
The estate covers approximately 70 hectares in Margaux, with its vineyards managed and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve the individual identity of each terroir. Under the direction of François Baudoux and Nicolas Audebert, meticulous precision is applied both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Each parcel is fermented separately before a rigorous selection and final blending. The wine is then matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, around 55% of which are new, adding structure and complexity while allowing the wine’s refined fruit and mineral character to remain at the forefront.

Food & Serving
Enjoy Château Rauzan-Ségla 2021 with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck breast or richly flavoured mushroom dishes. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C, ideally after allowing the bottle to breathe. Decant for around 1–2 hours when drinking young; older bottles should be decanted carefully and briefly, primarily to separate the sediment.
