Château Pontet-Canet 2010

Château Pontet-Canet 2010 is a standout Pauillac that captures both the power of Bordeaux and the finesse of a great modern vintage. A benchmark release for the estate, it is the first vintage certified 100% organic and biodynamic, adding even more significance to an already celebrated wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep carmine color with almost black shades, immediately signaling intensity and depth. The bouquet is remarkably complex and vibrant, with aromatic layers of violet, blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry. On the palate, the wine is beautifully structured and impressively long, with brilliant fruit, refined freshness, a silky texture, and aristocratic tannins. Elegant, supple, and graceful, it has the concentration to evolve beautifully over time and should reward long cellaring.

Production
The 2010 vintage benefited from a slightly delayed growing cycle, followed by unsettled weather during flowering that reduced berry set, especially in the older Merlot parcels. A warm, dry period leading up to harvest then created ideal conditions for a truly exceptional year. Built from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the wine reflects the classic gravelly terroir of Pauillac and the estate’s meticulous biodynamic approach to viticulture and vinification.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for classic Bordeaux fare such as roast lamb, beef fillet, entrecôte, game, or duck breast with earthy sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young; if well matured, a gentler decant is usually enough to preserve its delicate aromatics.
