Réserve de Pichon Comtesse is the second wine of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, one of Pauillac’s most celebrated estates. The 2020 vintage combines the château’s classic Left Bank character with a more approachable style, offering an elegant introduction to the estate’s refined expression of Bordeaux.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by hints of cedar, graphite, violet and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and a supple, layered texture. Dark fruit flavours remain at the centre, followed by savoury, gently mineral notes on the finish. Although approachable with decanting, the 2020 Réserve de Pichon Comtesse should develop further over the next several years. It can be enjoyed now for its fruit and balance, while additional bottle age will bring greater softness and complexity.

Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s gravel-rich Left Bank, the wine reflects a terroir well suited to Cabernet-led blends, with excellent drainage and heat retention. The grapes are carefully selected from the estate’s vineyards and vinified parcel by parcel before maturation in oak, allowing the wine to develop structure while preserving the freshness and elegance associated with Pichon Comtesse de Lalande. Specific blend and élevage details may vary by vintage.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after decanting for around 30–60 minutes, particularly when enjoying the wine in its youth. Its refined tannins and dark-fruited character pair beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck, steak au poivre and earthy mushroom dishes. It is also a natural companion to mature hard cheeses.
