Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. Its bouquet is expressive and refined, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by violet, graphite, cedar and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with vibrant acidity, silky yet structured tannins and a long, mineral finish. The 2021 vintage is marked by freshness and balance rather than sheer power, making it approachable with decanting while offering the potential to develop beautifully over the next 15–25 years.

Production
The vineyards lie on the gravelly soils typical of Pauillac, with underlying clay and sand that help provide both excellent drainage and water reserves for the vines. The blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Grapes are carefully selected and vinified parcel by parcel, with gentle extraction designed to preserve the vintage’s freshness and finesse. The wine is then matured in French oak, allowing its fruit, tannins and mineral character to integrate gradually.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison and other richly flavoured red meats, it also pairs well with duck, mushrooms, truffle dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for approximately 1–2 hours when drinking now; younger bottles will benefit from further cellaring to soften the tannins and reveal greater aromatic complexity.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has roots dating back to the late 17th century and became one of Bordeaux’s leading estates through its development in the 19th century. Its inclusion as a Deuxième Cru in the 1855 Classification confirms its historic standing, while the château is particularly admired for producing Pauillac wines with an unusually graceful, aromatic and supple character. The estate remains one of the most respected names on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
