Château Pichon-Longueville Baron Black Gift Box brings together six bottles of one of Pauillac’s most admired estates, featuring two bottles each from the 2014, 2015, and 2016 vintages. This is a rare collector’s presentation of a classic Bordeaux “super second,” with three highly acclaimed years that showcase the estate’s precision, power, and aging pedigree.

Tasting Notes
The 2014 vintage shows a broody, restrained profile at first, opening into blackberry, cedar, and graphite with impressive depth, fresh acidity, and a finely focused finish. It is a wine with real typicity and excellent cellaring potential, already beginning to reveal the structure and balance that made it a standout year. The 2015 vintage is the most opulent of the trio, offering deep garnet-purple color and an expressive bouquet of chocolate-covered cherries, crushed red currants, mulberries, baking spice, potpourri, and bay leaf. On the palate it is medium-bodied yet concentrated, with perfumed red fruit, very fine tannins, and remarkable freshness, suggesting graceful evolution over 30+ years. The 2016 is darker and more mineral-driven, with warm red and black currants, black plum, truffle, tapenade, rose hip tea, sandalwood, Chinese five spice, and a hint of iron ore. It is firm, layered, and long, with exotic spice and herbal lift, and has the structure to age beautifully for decades.

Production
Pichon Baron is located in Pauillac, where deep gravel soils and the Atlantic-influenced Bordeaux climate help Cabernet Sauvignon thrive, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc for texture and balance. The estate works with meticulous vineyard care, adapting to each vintage’s conditions, and all grapes are harvested by hand with strict selection by variety, vine age, and parcel. Vinification includes careful maceration and fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in barrel, with extensive blending trials to craft the final Grand Vin.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with classic Bordeaux-friendly dishes such as ribeye steak, lamb saddle, roast duck, venison, or slow-braised beef with herbs and mushrooms. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant younger bottles, especially the 2014 and 2016, for 1–2 hours to let the aromas and structure open fully. The 2015 may also benefit from decanting if opened now, though it can continue to develop in bottle for many years.

Château Pichon Longueville Baron was founded in 1689 and later divided in the mid-19th century after Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville’s death, leading to the creation of Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse. Classified as a Deuxième Cru in 1855, the estate regained its status among Bordeaux’s elite after AXA acquired it in the 1980s and Jean-Michel Cazes oversaw major investment and modernization. Today it is widely regarded as a benchmark Pauillac estate and one of the region’s finest “super seconds,” known for wines of precision, depth, and longevity.
