Château Mouton Rothschild 2001 is a beautifully composed expression of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated First Growth estates. While often overshadowed by the legendary 2000 vintage, 2001 has matured into a highly elegant and harmonious Mouton, showing the estate’s signature precision, depth, and sophistication.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet hue with an inviting sense of maturity. The nose is layered and refined, offering cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, cigar box, leather, graphite, and subtle oriental spice, with tertiary notes of forest floor, tobacco, and a hint of game adding complexity. The palate balances power and finesse, with concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon-driven fruit supported by supple, fully integrated tannins and a lively freshness that keeps the wine energetic. The finish is long and nuanced, unfolding with dark fruit, cedar, and the classic Pauillac graphite minerality. This is a wine that is already in a very attractive drinking window, though it still has the structure to hold for a number of years.

Produced in Pauillac, Bordeaux, from a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, this wine reflects the gravelly terroir that gives the region its hallmark structure and mineral edge. Careful vineyard work and selective harvesting ensure only ripe, high-quality fruit enters the cellar, where traditional Bordeaux vinification and aging in oak barrels shape the final blend with precision and depth.

Food & Serving
This mature Bordeaux is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, venison, or dishes with mushroom and truffle accents. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 30 to 60 minutes if opening now, mainly to allow the wine to fully express its aromatic complexity.
