Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep garnet core with mature ruby reflections, a sign of both age and continuing vitality. The bouquet is famously layered, offering blackcurrant, cedar, spice box, floral notes, and subtle hints of tobacco and graphite as it opens. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, yet still refined, with creamy cassis fruit, fine-grained tannins, and extraordinary length. Even at maturity, it retains freshness and energy, and the structure suggests excellent further evolution for those fortunate enough to cellar it longer.

Production
Château Mouton Rothschild comes from the gravelly slopes of Pauillac, where the poor, well-draining soils and tempering influence of the Gironde create ideal conditions for Cabernet-driven wines. The estate’s vineyards are planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, with close vine spacing and meticulous vineyard work aimed at low yields and exceptional fruit quality. Harvesting is carried out with precision, and vinification is overseen by a highly skilled technical team that treats each vintage individually. The final blend is assembled according to the character of the year, with the goal of preserving the estate’s signature combination of depth, aromatic complexity, structure, and longevity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef Wellington, filet of beef, venison, or truffle-infused cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant carefully, ideally for 1–2 hours if the bottle is in good condition, to allow the aromatics to unfold without stripping away its mature nuances.
