Château Margaux, Margaux 1 2019

Château Margaux 2019 is the Grand Vin of one of Bordeaux’s most revered estates, celebrated for combining remarkable finesse with depth and power. Produced in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc, it reflects the estate’s historic gravel terroirs and stands among the benchmark wines of the Left Bank. With roots reaching back to the 12th century, Château Margaux remains one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious and collectible names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2019 shows a deep, intense crimson colour with youthful purple highlights. Its bouquet is refined and layered, offering blackcurrant, blackberry and plum alongside violet, cedar, graphite and subtle spice. The palate is poised and concentrated, with polished tannins, vibrant freshness and impressive length. Dark fruit flavours are balanced by mineral complexity and discreet oak, creating a wine that is powerful without losing the elegance for which Château Margaux is known. This is a vintage built for longevity. Although it can be approached after careful decanting, its structure and complexity will develop significantly with extended bottle age. Properly stored, it should continue to evolve gracefully for several decades.

Production
The estate’s vines are planted on the gravel and clay soils characteristic of the Margaux terroir, where well-draining gravel encourages depth and concentration while the underlying clay helps retain water and supports freshness. Château Margaux combines traditional estate practices with modern precision in the vineyard and cellar. The grapes are selected with great care before vinification, allowing the estate to preserve the distinct character of each parcel and craft a balanced, age-worthy Grand Vin.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Château Margaux 2019 is a natural partner for refined dishes such as roast beef, saddle of lamb, venison, duck with a savoury reduction, or grilled entrecôte. It also pairs beautifully with earthy accompaniments including wild mushrooms, truffle and mature hard cheeses. Decant for around two to three hours when serving young to help open the wine; older bottles should be decanted more gently and primarily to remove sediment.
