Description

Château Margaux 2007 is a classic First Growth from Bordeaux’s Left Bank, offering the poise, depth and refinement that have made this estate one of the most admired names in fine wine. While the 2007 vintage is more understated than the most legendary years, it still shows the unmistakable elegance and pedigree of Château Margaux, with a style built on finesse rather than power. A wine with centuries of history behind it, it remains one of the world’s most prestigious expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Château Margaux 2007 typically shows a deep garnet hue with graceful maturity. The bouquet opens with incense, iris, blackberry, tobacco and subtle graphite, with the floral character that often defines great Margaux somewhat less pronounced in this vintage. On the palate, it is supple and well balanced, with black fruit framed by tobacco, graphite and a refined, polished texture. The wine is fully matured but still has enough structure and substance to evolve further, with an aging potential of around 15 to 20 years from the tasting note cited, and likely longer under ideal cellar conditions.

Production
Château Margaux is situated in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, where gravel-rich soils and excellent drainage help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve its trademark precision and aromatic lift. The estate’s vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with old vines preserved as a key part of the domaine’s philosophy. Harvesting is carried out with a focus on selecting fruit from mature vines, and vinification is designed to preserve the estate’s signature balance, depth and elegance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic fine-dining dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, truffle dishes, or duck breast. It also works well with mature hard cheeses, especially when the dish has earthy, savory elements. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant gently if needed; for a mature vintage like 2007, a shorter decant is often preferable to preserve its aromatic detail.

Producer
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s legendary First Growths, with a history dating back to the 16th century and a reputation that has made it synonymous with style, class and excellence. The estate has long been used for official state occasions and remains one of the most iconic names in the region. Today it is owned and managed by Corinne Mentzelopoulos, who has guided the château for decades with a dedicated team, helping maintain its standing among the world’s greatest wine estates.
