Château Lynch-Bages Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2022

Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2022 is a refined and characterful white Bordeaux from one of Pauillac’s most respected names. Better known for its outstanding reds, Château Lynch-Bages shows real precision here, crafting a vibrant blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with Sémillon and Muscadelle adding depth and perfume.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shines with a pale golden hue and subtle green reflections. The nose is lively and expressive, opening with grapefruit, lime, white peach and delicate floral notes, followed by a clear mineral edge with a hint of chalk and wet stone. The palate is fresh and elegant, with crisp acidity, a medium-bodied texture and a graceful saline streak that gives the wine real lift. Six months of barrel ageing, including 50% new oak, adds quiet richness and a polished mouthfeel without overshadowing the wine’s citrus-driven energy. It can be enjoyed now, but has the balance and structure to develop beautifully over the next 5–10 years.

Production
The grapes come from the gravelly Garonnaise terroirs of the Médoc, a rare and notable setting for white wine production in this part of Bordeaux. The 2022 growing season brought warm, dry conditions, but careful vineyard work and a swift harvest ensured that the fruit was picked in excellent health and at optimal freshness. Vinification included six months of ageing in oak barrels, with half of them new, to build texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s precise aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, lobster, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes and goat’s cheese. Serve it well chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider a short decant only if you want to open up its more mineral and layered aromatic notes.
