Description
Château l’Évangile 2006 is a poised and seductive Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s most respected names, offering impressive depth, finesse, and classic Left Bank-inspired elegance in a Right Bank setting. Made largely from Cabernet Franc in a vintage that delivered remarkable ripeness, it combines dark fruit richness with a silky, polished texture that has made the estate a benchmark for refined Bordeaux. With a Robert Parker score of 93 points, it stands out as a highly expressive wine from a strong historic property.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby to purple hue, hinting at both concentration and youthful energy. The bouquet is generous and inviting, with dark raspberry, black cherry, sweet plum, and fig notes lifted by floral nuances of spring blossoms.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple, and velvety, with fleshy fruit balanced by freshness and graceful structure. The finish is long and silky, and while it is already showing beautifully, it should continue to develop nuanced tertiary complexity with further aging.
Production
Château l’Évangile is located in Pomerol, where gravelly and clay-rich soils help shape wines with both perfume and depth. The 2006 vintage benefited from careful harvesting at optimal ripeness, allowing the grapes to reach natural maturity while preserving balance. Vinification was clearly geared toward retaining purity of fruit and a refined, seamless texture, with the final wine reaching an impressive 14% natural alcohol.
Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, truffle dishes, and mushroom-based preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if opening now to allow the aromatics and texture to fully unfold.

Château L’Évangile has long been regarded as one of Pomerol’s most notable estates, with a reputation for producing wines of depth, elegance, and aging potential. Its standing in the region comes from a history of consistent quality and a distinctive style that often combines richness with finesse. Over the years, the château has earned wide critical acclaim, including strong recognition from leading wine writers such as Robert Parker.
