Château Latour, Pauillac 1 2019

Château Latour 2019 is a prestigious Pauillac red from one of Bordeaux’s five Premier Grand Cru Classé estates. Produced from the estate’s finest parcels within the historic L’Enclos, it combines remarkable concentration with the precision, structure and longevity that have made Latour a benchmark for Médoc wines for centuries.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-purple in colour, the 2019 opens with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by graphite, cedar, tobacco leaf and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet finely balanced, with dense layers of dark fruit, polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, mineral finish shaped by refined French oak. This is a classic cellar wine with considerable aging potential. It can be enjoyed after careful decanting from around 2028, but should develop greater complexity and harmony over the following two to four decades, depending on storage conditions.

Production
Château Latour is situated in southern Pauillac, close to the Gironde estuary. The vineyards surrounding the iconic L’Enclos are planted on deep gravel soils with an underlying layer of clay, helping provide excellent drainage while retaining moisture for the vines. The 2019 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meticulous vineyard work and strict parcel selection are followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, with maturation for approximately 18–24 months in new French oak barrels.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for premium grilled or roasted red meats, particularly entrecôte, beef tenderloin and rack of lamb. It also pairs beautifully with game, roast duck and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to rest at cellar temperature. Young bottles benefit from 2–4 hours of decanting; older bottles should be decanted more gently and shortly before serving to remove sediment while preserving their delicate aromas.
