Les Forts de Latour 2020 is the second wine of the legendary Château Latour, offering a remarkably polished expression of Pauillac with the pedigree and precision you’d expect from one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates. Crafted with the same rigorous attention to detail as the Grand Vin, it delivers impressive structure, depth, and class while remaining more approachable in youth.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep garnet to dark ruby hue, signaling concentration and youthful energy. The nose is elegant and layered, with blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, violets, and subtle hints of tobacco and spice. On the palate, it is refined and composed, combining ripe dark fruit with firm yet beautifully integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a mineral, savory core. The finish is long and measured, with the kind of balance and length that suggest excellent aging potential over the next 15–25 years, depending on storage and opening point.

Production
Les Forts de Latour is sourced from the château’s vineyards in Pauillac, where gravelly soils over clay and limestone provide excellent drainage and encourage the deep-rooted concentration for which the estate is known. The blend and exact composition vary by vintage, with fruit selected from parcels that reflect the breadth and finesse of the estate. Vinification follows strict Château Latour standards, with careful parcel-by-parcel harvesting, fermentation, and élevage designed to preserve purity, structure, and the estate’s signature precision.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for roast lamb, prime rib, beef fillet, duck breast, game, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromatics and structure. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open and show its full complexity.
