Château Larcis Ducasse, Saint Émilion 2019

Château Larcis Ducasse 2019 is a refined Saint-Émilion red from one of the appellation’s highly regarded estates. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B since 2012, it combines the richness of Merlot with the structure and aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc, expressing the distinctive character of Saint-Émilion’s limestone slopes.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to garnet in appearance, the wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and plums, complemented by violet, graphite, subtle spice and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet polished, with concentrated dark-fruit flavours, fresh acidity and firm but refined tannins. Hints of mineral, cocoa and savoury spice emerge on the long, persistent finish. The 2019 vintage offers both generous fruit and excellent structure. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, but should develop further complexity over the next 10–15 years under suitable cellar conditions.

Production
The vineyards are situated on a combination of limestone and clay soils on the slopes and plateau around Saint-Émilion, giving the wine both richness and mineral freshness. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation, with the precise process adjusted to each parcel. The wine is matured in French oak, allowing the fruit, tannins and mineral character to integrate while adding gentle notes of spice and toast.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after decanting for approximately 1–2 hours, particularly when enjoying the wine in its youth. Its structure and depth make it an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, venison and richly flavoured mushroom dishes. It also pairs naturally with classic Bordeaux-style preparations and mature hard cheeses.
