Description

Les Fiefs de Lagrange is the second wine of Château Lagrange, a renowned Third Growth estate in Saint-Julien. The 2019 vintage offers an approachable expression of the estate’s Médoc style, combining classic Cabernet-driven structure with ripe fruit and polished tannins. It is a compelling introduction to one of Saint-Julien’s most respected properties.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with inviting aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by subtle notes of cedar, graphite, spice and gentle toast. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with generous dark fruit, fresh acidity and well-integrated tannins. The finish is savoury and persistent, revealing the wine’s refined Bordeaux character. Enjoyable in its youth for its fruit and balance, Les Fiefs de Lagrange also has the structure to develop further complexity with careful cellaring. It should drink well from approximately 2024 through 2032, depending on storage conditions and personal preference.

Production
Produced from selected fruit grown in the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, a terroir well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and known for producing wines with both elegance and structure. Les Fiefs de Lagrange is made from younger-vine parcels and carefully selected lots from the estate, with traditional Bordeaux vinification followed by maturation in oak. The precise blend and élevage details may vary by vintage.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, grilled entrecôte and duck, as well as mushroom dishes, mature hard cheeses and classic French cuisine. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, particularly when enjoying the wine in its earlier years, to soften the tannins and open the bouquet.

Producer
Château Lagrange is a historic Saint-Julien estate classified as a Troisième Cru in the 1855 Classification of Médoc wines. The property has been owned by the Japanese Suntory group since 1983, under whose stewardship the vineyards and winery have undergone extensive modernisation. Today, Château Lagrange is recognised for producing precise, elegant and age-worthy wines that express the distinctive gravelly terroir of Saint-Julien.
