Château Lafite-Rothschild 2023 is a refined expression of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, combining Pauillac’s depth with Lafite’s renowned elegance and precision. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, it is produced through meticulous parcel selection and represents one of the most sought-after wines in the Médoc.

Tasting Notes
The 2023 vintage opens with a refined bouquet of raspberry, redcurrant and subtle white pepper, complemented by Provençal spices and aromatic herbs. With time in the glass, further layers of mineral character, finesse and complexity emerge. On the palate, the wine is precise and elegant, with silky tannins, beautifully refined structure and impressive freshness. A long, persistent finish brings delicate bitter notes, mineral tension and remarkable balance. This is a vintage with the classic Lafite signature and the precision to develop gracefully over several decades in a well-stored cellar.

Production
Château Lafite-Rothschild farms approximately 112 hectares of vines, including around 50 hectares on the historic Plateau des Carruades. Following rigorous parcel-by-parcel selection, the grapes are fermented separately according to their origin and ripeness in wooden, concrete and stainless-steel vats. Temperature-controlled fermentation and regular pump-overs ensure a gentle extraction of colour, aroma and tannin, while maceration lasts around 22 days on average. After malolactic fermentation, each batch is aged separately in French oak barrels produced by Lafite’s own cooperage, Tonnellerie des Domaines. Only the finest barrels are selected for the Grand Vin, which then matures for approximately 15 months, predominantly in new French oak.

Food & Serving
Its refined structure and savoury freshness make it an excellent partner for classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck and richly flavoured mushroom preparations. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. The wine can be enjoyed after several hours in a decanter when young, although older bottles are best decanted carefully and briefly to separate the wine from any sediment while preserving its delicate aromas.
