Château Labégorce, Margaux CBE 2021

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep ruby colour with youthful purple highlights. Its nose is expressive and graceful, revealing blackcurrant, blackberry and plum alongside violet, cedar, graphite and a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with fresh acidity, concentrated dark fruit and finely textured tannins. A mineral, lightly savoury finish adds length and precision. The 2021 vintage is marked by freshness and classic Bordeaux structure rather than sheer power. Château Labégorce is approachable with aeration now, while its balance and tannic framework should allow it to develop beautifully over the next 8–12 years, depending on storage conditions.

Production
Situated in the Margaux appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Labégorce benefits from the region’s characteristic gravel-rich soils, which encourage drainage and help the vines produce wines with both depth and finesse. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested at optimal ripeness before fermentation and maturation in oak, allowing the fruit, floral character and structured tannins to remain in balance. The 2021 growing season resulted in a fresh, elegant style with a distinctly classic Bordeaux profile.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the wine to breathe. Decant for around 45–60 minutes when enjoying it young, particularly alongside a meal. Its combination of fruit, freshness and fine tannins makes it an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, venison, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.
