Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in appearance, the wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, joined by violet, graphite, tobacco and a subtle smoky, mineral character. On the palate, it is poised and concentrated, with finely structured tannins, lively acidity and layers of dark fruit, cedar and spice. The 2021 vintage favors elegance and definition over sheer power, giving the wine a long, precise finish and excellent potential to develop in bottle over the next two decades or more.

Production
The vineyards of La Mission Haut-Brion are rooted in the gravelly soils typical of Pessac-Léognan, with clay and sand beneath contributing both drainage and water retention. Grapes are harvested by hand in separate vineyard parcels before careful sorting and fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is then matured in French oak, allowing its fruit, structure and distinctive mineral-smoky character to integrate gradually.

Food & Serving
Enjoy with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison or slow-cooked beef dishes, as well as earthy preparations featuring mushrooms or truffle. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Although approachable with extended aeration, the wine will benefit from decanting for around two hours when opened young; older bottles should be handled gently and decanted briefly to remove sediment.
