Château La Clotte Saint-Émilion 2019 is a refined Right Bank Bordeaux shaped by the limestone-rich terroir of Saint-Émilion. Produced by the Vauthier family, whose wines are among the most respected in the appellation, it combines the generous character of the 2019 vintage with the château’s traditional elegance and cellar-worthiness.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to garnet in colour, the wine offers an inviting bouquet of ripe blackberry, plum and black cherry, complemented by violet, subtle spice and finely integrated oak. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and concentrated dark-fruit flavours. Hints of cocoa, cedar and mineral nuance add complexity, while the finish is long and balanced. It is approachable with decanting now, but should develop further in the bottle over the next decade or more.

Production
The vineyards of Château La Clotte benefit from Saint-Émilion’s limestone and clay soils, which provide both structure and a distinctive mineral freshness. Grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand before gentle vinification in temperature-controlled vats, allowing the fruit and individual parcels to be handled with precision. The wine is matured in oak to add complexity and texture while preserving the purity of the estate’s fruit and terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for approximately 1–2 hours when drinking young to soften the tannins and open the aromas; older bottles should be handled more gently and decanted only if necessary to remove sediment. Its structure and dark-fruit character pair beautifully with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, venison, duck and mature hard cheeses.
