Description
Château Haut-Blanville’s Pays Grande Réserve Pinot Noir 2024 is a fresh, refined Languedoc red that combines supple fruit with a more serious, structured character. Produced near Montpellier by a family estate with roots dating back to 1955, it reflects the diversity of the region while offering an elegant interpretation of Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright ruby colour and a notably fresh nose, layered with delicate spice and subtle tobacco aromas. On the palate, it is well structured, with elegant tannins and a balanced, persistent finish. Its freshness makes it approachable in its youth, while the structure should allow it to develop additional savoury complexity over the next few years when stored in suitable conditions.
Production
The grapes come from Château Haut-Blanville’s vineyards in the Languedoc, an area known for the remarkable diversity of its soils and growing conditions. The estate farms its vineyards according to organic and responsible principles, with careful attention to soil health, the surrounding environment and biodiversity. Château Haut-Blanville has progressively selected individual parcels over the past two decades, vinifying their grapes separately to express the character of each site. The red wines undergo a long maceration following alcoholic fermentation, helping to build structure, colour and depth.
Food & Serving
Enjoy this versatile Pinot Noir slightly cool, at around 14–16°C. It works well as an aperitif and pairs naturally with roast or grilled red meat, charcuterie, mild to medium-aged cheeses and sushi. Decanting is not essential, but allowing the wine to breathe in the glass or giving it a brief decant can help open its spicy and savoury aromas.
Producer
Château Haut-Blanville was founded in 1955, when Béatrice and Bernard Nivollet began building their winery from the ground up near Montpellier. Today, the estate covers 70 hectares across five distinct terroirs within the Grés de Montpellier area and is recognised for producing carefully crafted wines that highlight Languedoc’s diversity. Its parcel-by-parcel approach, combined with organic and environmentally conscious vineyard practices, has earned the wines a strong reputation among wine enthusiasts.
