Sarget de Gruaud Larose is the second wine of the renowned 2ème Cru Classé Château Gruaud Larose in Saint-Julien, offering an accessible glimpse into one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates. The 2019 vintage delivers the depth, balance, and character you’d expect from this historic Left Bank property, while remaining notably approachable in its youth.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a classic Bordeaux profile with ripe dark fruit at the core. Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and plum are layered with cedar, subtle herbs, and a hint of pencil shavings, giving it a refined Saint-Julien signature. The palate is structured yet smooth, with silky tannins, lively freshness, and a well-defined frame that supports the fruit beautifully. While it is enjoyable now with some air, it also has the balance and backbone to develop over the next several years.

Production
Sarget de Gruaud Larose 2019 is crafted from grapes sourced from younger vines and selected parcels that do not go into the grand vin, all from the same exceptional Saint-Julien terroir. The blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, and the wine is matured in French oak barrels to add complexity and texture without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, grilled ribeye, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
