Description
Château Duhart-Milon 2022 is a distinguished Pauillac red from one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates. Classified as a Quatrième Cru in the 1855 Classification, the château has been part of the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) portfolio since 1962, bringing together Pauillac’s classic structure with the precision associated with the Lafite family of estates.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep, concentrated ruby colour with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile combines blackcurrant, blackberry and plum with graphite, cedar, tobacco and subtle violet notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and firmly structured, with ripe tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, mineral finish. The 2022 vintage offers both impressive concentration and balance, making it approachable after decanting while also giving it excellent ageing potential over the next 15–25 years, depending on storage conditions.
Production
The vineyards are situated in Pauillac on gravelly Günzian terraces, where well-drained soils encourage deep-rooted vines and naturally concentrated fruit. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is then matured in French oak, allowing the tannins to soften while complementing the dark fruit, spice and graphite character typical of Pauillac.
Food & Serving
A natural partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison and other richly flavoured red meats, it also pairs beautifully with grilled entrecôte, duck breast and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decant for 1–2 hours when enjoying the wine young; older bottles should be decanted more gently, primarily to remove any sediment.
Producer
Château Duhart-Milon is located in the Pauillac appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux and takes its name from the ‘Sieur Duhart’, a former privateer whose house once stood on the estate. The property was classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855 and was acquired by Baron Éric de Rothschild in 1962. Since then, extensive vineyard and cellar improvements have strengthened its reputation as one of Pauillac’s leading estates, with the wine benefiting from the expertise and resources of the Lafite Rothschild group.
