In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful purple highlights. The nose leans toward fresh blackcurrant, ripe cherry, plum, and violet, with subtle hints of cedar, spice, and gravelly earth adding complexity. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with supple tannins, vibrant fruit, and a fine-boned structure that reflects the Margaux style. Cabernet Sauvignon brings definition and freshness, while Merlot rounds out the mid-palate with softness and generosity. The wine should drink well young, but it also has the balance to develop additional nuance over the next several years.

Blason d’Issan comes from vineyards in Margaux, where the gravel-rich soils are particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
