Description

Château de Roquefort Petit Salé Bio 2023 is a bright, organically crafted white from the sun‑drenched hills of Provence, made for effortless drinking yet full of character. This cuvée brings together Clairette and Vermentino in a refreshing, saline-driven style that perfectly captures the Mediterranean coastline. Named after the local nickname for Clairette, “Petit Salé,” it nods to the grape’s naturally zesty, lightly salty profile and the region’s long tradition of crisp, food‑friendly whites.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Petit Salé Bio 2023 shows a pale straw to light lemon hue with glints of green, suggesting freshness and youthful energy. The nose is vibrant and inviting, with notes of lemon zest, white peach, crunchy pear and green apple, layered with hints of wild herbs, fennel, sea spray and a subtle floral touch—think white blossom and lemon verbena. On the palate, the wine is light to medium‑bodied, bone‑dry and wonderfully crisp, with a pronounced mineral backbone. Citrus and stone fruit flavors are lifted by a gentle salinity and a fine, mouthwatering acidity that keeps everything taut and refreshing. The finish is clean and precise with lingering notes of citrus peel, fresh herbs and wet stone. This vintage is designed to be enjoyed in its youth for maximum vibrancy and aromatics, ideally within 2–3 years of the harvest.

Production
Château de Roquefort sits in the cool, elevated limestone and clay soils of Provence, where mistral winds and significant diurnal shifts help preserve acidity and aromatic purity. The vineyards for Petit Salé are farmed organically (certified Bio), with careful attention to soil health and biodiversity, and grapes are typically harvested by hand to ensure optimal ripeness and selection. In the cellar, Clairette and Vermentino are gently pressed and fermented at controlled, cool temperatures in stainless steel to lock in freshness and preserve delicate aromatics, with minimal intervention and no heavy oak influence. The result is a pure, terroir‑driven white that expresses both the stony Provençal landscape and the Mediterranean climate.

Food & Serving
This is a quintessential aperitif and table wine for Mediterranean cuisine. Pair it with oysters, clams, grilled prawns, ceviche, or simple fish dishes like sea bream with lemon and herbs. It also works beautifully with goat cheese, Niçoise salad, grilled vegetables, ratatouille, or light pasta with olive oil and fresh herbs. Serve well‑chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its crispness and saline edge. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and pour for immediate enjoyment.

Producer
Château de Roquefort is an esteemed estate in Provence, set against a backdrop of limestone cliffs and forested hills that lend a distinctive coolness to its vineyards. The property has roots reaching back several centuries, but in recent decades it has become particularly noted for its commitment to organic viticulture and expressive, terroir‑driven wines. Working with native Provençal varieties and Mediterranean grapes, the estate has built a strong reputation for characterful, authentic whites, rosés and reds that stand out in a region best known for rosé alone. Château de Roquefort’s wines frequently receive critical praise for their balance, purity and sense of place, helping to showcase the diversity and quality of Provence beyond its famous pink wines.
