Description
Château de Rochemorin’s 2023 Pessac-Léognan Blanc combines the appellation’s natural freshness with a rich, polished texture. Produced at an estate historically associated with the philosopher Montesquieu, it is a refined Bordeaux white marked by exotic fruit, creamy depth and elegant oak influence.
Tasting Notes
The wine is pale yellow with delicate green reflections. Its expressive nose offers aromas of exotic fruit and white-fleshed fruit, complemented by attractive brioche notes from maturation in oak barrels.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, rounded and creamy, with a harmonious balance and pronounced freshness. Exotic fruit flavours return on the finish, giving the wine both generosity and lift. It is approachable in its youth, while its freshness and structure should allow it to develop further over the next few years when properly cellared.
Production
Château de Rochemorin is situated on one of the highest hilltops in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in the commune of Martillac. The estate benefits from a notable diversity of terroirs and soil types, which contribute to expressive, mineral-driven white wines. The 2023 white receives maturation in oak barrels, lending the wine its characteristic brioche tones and creamy texture; specific harvesting and vinification details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C to preserve its freshness while allowing the oak and fruit aromas to unfold. It is an excellent match for grilled fish with citrus, roast chicken with cream and mushrooms, or soft-ripened cheeses such as Brie and Camembert. Decanting is not essential, although a brief airing in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic complexity.
