Château de Rochemorin, Pessac-Léognan 2021

Château de Rochemorin 2021 is a refined red from the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation, offering polished fruit, gentle oak influence and an elegant, rounded style. Situated on one of the appellation’s highest points in Martillac, the estate has historic ties to the philosopher Montesquieu and is renowned for producing expressive wines with a strong sense of place.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep dark-red colour with attractive carmine reflections. Its bouquet is intense and refined, combining aromas of ripe red and black fruits with a subtle toasted note. On the palate, it opens smoothly with a pleasing sweetness of fruit, balanced by fine freshness and a rounded, supple texture. Delicate red-fruit flavours return alongside hints of vanilla, leading to a long, harmonious finish. The 2021 vintage is approachable in its youth thanks to its soft entry and polished balance, while its structure and careful oak maturation should allow it to develop added complexity over the coming years.

Production
Château de Rochemorin is located on varied terroirs and soils in Martillac, one of the highest areas of Pessac-Léognan. The wine is traditionally vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with remontage and pigeage used to extract colour and structure. It is then matured for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, partly new, allowing the tannins to integrate while adding a subtle toasted and vanilla character without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for beef, lamb and game, Château de Rochemorin 2021 also works beautifully with grilled meats and dishes served with rich or spicy sauces. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if serving now, particularly alongside a substantial meal.
