Château d’Aiguilhe Vif is a lively, modern French cuvée that brings together Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. The inclusion of white grapes gives the wine an especially fresh, energetic character, while its Bordeaux heritage adds elegance and finesse. Produced as a non-vintage wine, it is designed to be enjoyed for its immediate fruit and vitality rather than extended cellaring.

Tasting Notes
Bright and youthful in appearance, Vif offers a fresh, fruit-driven nose with delicate peppery notes. On the palate, lively acidity supports flavours of ripe red and dark berries, complemented by a light herbal and spicy edge. The texture is balanced and refined, leading to a refreshing, elegant finish. This is a wine to enjoy in its youth, when its crisp fruit and vibrant character are at their most expressive. Extended aging is not essential, although it may develop slightly softer fruit and spice notes over the short term.

Production
The wine is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, reflecting Château d’Aiguilhe’s Bordeaux origins while emphasising freshness. The red grapes are vinified in stainless-steel tanks with gentle extraction and careful protection of the must to preserve their bright fruit character. The white grapes undergo cold débourbage, or clarification by settling, before fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. This approach helps retain the cuvée’s clean, refreshing profile.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 12–14°C. Vif is a versatile companion to charcuterie, grilled poultry, pork, vegetable tarts and lighter dishes featuring herbs or pepper. It also works well with grilled salmon or tuna, thanks to the freshness contributed by the Sauvignon Blanc. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow the wine to breathe.

Château d’Aiguilhe is a historic estate in Bordeaux’s Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, known for producing polished, terroir-driven wines with a strong emphasis on freshness and balance. The estate is associated with the von Neipperg family, whose involvement has helped raise its profile in the region and modernise its winemaking approach. Alongside its more structured red wines, Vif showcases a lighter and particularly vibrant expression of the château’s Bordeaux identity.
