Sourced from its own vineyard in the Médoc, north of Saint-Estèphe, it was first produced in 2003 and reflects the house style in a softer, earlier-drinking form. Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, the 2020 G d’Estournel shows the polished, classical profile associated with fine Bordeaux. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice lead into a palate that is supple yet structured, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing freshness and backbone and Merlot adding roundness and charm. The finish is refined and balanced, with fine tannins and a clean mineral edge that suggests good ageing potential. While approachable earlier than the grand vin, this magnum format should reward several years in the cellar, developing greater complexity and harmony over time.

Production
The grapes come from Goulée, a dedicated vineyard site in the Médoc planted mainly with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot for the red wine. The terroir is distinctly Bordeaux, with conditions that support slow ripening and the development of classic structure and aromatic precision. Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast beef, lamb, duck breast, grilled entrecôte, or mushroom-based dishes with earthy depth. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young to allow the wine to open fully and show its finesse.
