G d’Estournel is the elegant, more approachable expression of Château Cos d’Estournel, sourced from its own vineyard in the Médoc just north of Saint-Estèphe. First released in 2003, it carries the hallmark style and craftsmanship of the estate while offering a softer, earlier-drinking profile than the grand vin.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2020 shows classic Bordeaux character with a deep, polished color and a refined, modern edge. The nose opens with ripe blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice, all wrapped in the estate’s signature finesse. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon gives structure and dark-fruited depth, while Merlot brings roundness and a supple texture. The result is a balanced wine with fresh acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, composed finish. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, but will continue to evolve gracefully over the next several years.

Production
The fruit comes from a dedicated vineyard site in Goulée, a Médoc terroir north of Saint-Estèphe, planted mainly on gravelly soils that suit Cabernet Sauvignon particularly well. The vineyard is planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, and the wine is crafted by the team at Château Cos d’Estournel with the same attention to detail as the estate’s top wines.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, entrecôte, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, to let the wine fully раскры?
