Château Clerc Milon, Pauillac 5 2022

Château Clerc Milon 2022 is a distinguished Pauillac red from the Médoc, classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. Produced under the same stewardship as Château Mouton Rothschild, it combines Pauillac’s signature Cabernet Sauvignon structure with refined fruit, aromatic complexity and impressive cellaring potential.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-purple in appearance, the 2022 vintage opens with expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by cedar, graphite, violet and subtle spice. The palate is concentrated yet poised, offering layers of dark fruit and cassis supported by finely grained tannins, lively acidity and a long, mineral finish. This is a structured young wine with the balance and depth to develop beautifully in bottle. It can be enjoyed from around 2028, while further complexity is likely to emerge through the 2030s and beyond with careful cellaring.

Production
The vineyards lie on the gravelly soils typical of Pauillac, with well-drained gravel over clay and sand that encourages deep-rooted vines and helps moderate the effects of warm conditions. The grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, then vinified separately in temperature-controlled vats before the final blend is assembled. Maturation takes place in French oak, allowing the wine’s Cabernet-led structure to integrate with subtle notes of spice and toast.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to come gently to temperature. Decanting for approximately one to two hours is recommended when drinking the wine young, helping to soften its tannins and reveal its aromatic detail. It pairs particularly well with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, grilled ribeye, duck, game birds and mature hard cheeses.
