Château Cheval Blanc 2023 is an exceptionally refined and profound Bordeaux from one of Saint-Émilion’s most revered estates. Tasting Notes
The 2023 vintage opens with a complex, layered bouquet of violets and rose petals, followed by blackcurrants, ripe black cherries and blue plums. Graphite, cedar and subtle spice add depth and nuance, while the overall expression remains remarkably pure and focused. On the palate, the wine is precise and beautifully balanced, with knife-edge acidity, velvety tannins and a seamless, silky texture. The finish is exceptionally long, mineral and elegant, bringing together power and finesse without heaviness. With its concentration, freshness and refined structure, Château Cheval Blanc 2023 has outstanding aging potential and should develop gracefully over several decades, provided it is cellared well.

Production
Château Cheval Blanc benefits from an exceptional mosaic of gravelly and clay-rich soils in a unique position between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The estate’s terroir is particularly well suited to Cabernet Franc, which contributes aromatic lift, freshness and structure to the final wine. Each parcel is managed and harvested individually before being vinified separately in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Following extensive tasting and careful selection, the final blend is assembled with great precision. The wine then matures for approximately 18 months in 100% new French oak, with only limited clarification to preserve its finesse, detail and purity.

Food & Serving
This powerful yet elegant Bordeaux is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison and other refined red-meat dishes. It also pairs beautifully with truffle-based preparations, mushroom dishes, game birds and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Young bottles should be decanted for around two to three hours to allow the aromas and texture to unfold; mature vintages may benefit from gentler decanting primarily to remove sediment.
