Description
Château Cavalier’s Cuvée Marafiance is a Provence rosé designed with the table in mind, offering both freshness and enough structure to stand up to a proper meal. Built around Grenache, Syrah and Rolle, it combines vibrant fruit, finesse and a more gastronomic style than many easy-drinking rosés. For Château Cavalier, this cuvée reflects the modern face of Côtes de Provence, while still expressing the region’s long-standing reputation for elegant rosé.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the pale, luminous hue typical of quality Provence rosé. The nose is lively and expressive, with bright red berry fruit, citrus notes and a subtle floral lift, supported by a faint spicy edge from the red varieties.
The palate is fresh and textured, opening with juicy fruit and a supple, rounded mouthfeel. Grenache brings generosity and smoothness, while Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon add tension, definition and a touch of grip. Rolle, Cinsault and Sémillon help enhance aromatic purity and fruit expression. It is a rosé with character and energy, and it should drink well while young for its freshness, though it has the balance to hold up nicely over the short to medium term.
Production
Cuvée Marafiance is made from a blend of 57% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 13% Rolle, 3% Cinsault, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Sémillon. The red grapes provide structure and depth, while the white varieties lift the fragrance and emphasize the wine’s fruit-driven profile. In the cellar, winemaker Florent Gaillard aims for maximum purity and a natural expression of the grapes and terroir, with careful low-temperature fermentation kept below 18°C to preserve freshness, aroma and fruit intensity.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent rosé for food, pairing particularly well with Mediterranean dishes, grilled seafood, shellfish, roast chicken, summer salads, vegetable dishes and light Provençal cuisine. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to showcase its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle briefly before serving can help the wine open up in the glass.
