Description
Brulières de Beychevelle 2022 is a polished Haut-Médoc red from the renowned Château Beychevelle, offering an appealing balance of ripe fruit, spice and rounded texture. Produced from a dedicated 12-hectare vineyard in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, just south of the château, it benefits from the same careful attention as the estate’s flagship wine while offering an accessible expression of the Médoc style.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with inviting aromas of blackcurrant, red fruits and warming spices. On the palate, it is powerful yet fruit-driven, with a generous, rounded mouthfeel and a gently spicy finish. Its balance and concentration make it enjoyable in its youth, while the Cabernet Sauvignon component should allow it to develop added savoury and tertiary complexity over the coming years.
Production
The 12-hectare vineyard is located in Cussac-Fort-Médoc within the Haut-Médoc appellation, approximately 5 kilometres south of Château Beychevelle. It is planted exclusively with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The grapes undergo traditional vinification, with fermentation lasting 18 to 21 days. The wine is then matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new, in a dedicated cellar under the same meticulous supervision applied to Château Beychevelle.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool at around 16–18°C. Brulières de Beychevelle pairs particularly well with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, grilled or roasted red meats, mushroom dishes and mature hard cheeses. Decanting for approximately 30–60 minutes is recommended to open the wine’s fruit and spice aromas, especially when enjoyed in its youth.
Producer
Château Beychevelle is one of the celebrated estates of the Médoc, known for its distinctive château and long-standing reputation for producing refined Bordeaux wines. Brulières de Beychevelle comes from a separate vineyard in the Haut-Médoc and is matured with the same care and attention as the estate’s principal wine. Its combination of classic Cabernet Sauvignon structure, Merlot-driven roundness and careful French oak ageing reflects the polished style associated with the Beychevelle name.
