Description
Brulières de Beychevelle 2019 comes from the historic Château Beychevelle estate in Bordeaux, offering a refined Haut-Médoc expression with classic Left Bank character. Made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it reflects the estate’s focus on elegance, balance, and faithful terroir expression.
Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby colour with a polished, youthful sheen. The nose typically leans toward blackcurrant, plum, cedar, and subtle spice, with the kind of freshness and lift that make Bordeaux blends so appealing.
On the palate, it should feel structured yet supple, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing backbone and cassis-driven intensity, while Merlot adds roundness and a smoother mid-palate. The finish is likely to be long, firm, and poised, with the potential to develop additional complexity over several years in bottle.
Production
The vineyards are located in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, in the Haut-Médoc appellation, about 5 km south of Château Beychevelle. The 12 hectares devoted to Brulières de Beychevelle are planted entirely with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, a classic Bordeaux pairing well suited to the gravelly Left Bank terroir. The wine is produced with the aim of preserving purity of fruit, structure, and the estate’s signature finesse.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic depth.
Producer
Château Beychevelle is one of Bordeaux’s most recognisable historic estates, long associated with quality, prestige, and maritime symbolism tied to its name and emblem. Based in Saint-Julien, it has built a strong reputation for producing elegant, ageworthy wines, and Brulières de Beychevelle reflects that same attention to detail in a more approachable Haut-Médoc style.
