Château Berliquet, Saint Émilion 2020

Château Berliquet 2020 is a refined Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from one of the appellation’s historic estates. Situated on the limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion and shaped by the property’s recent stewardship under Chanel, it combines the richness of Merlot with the structure and aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc. The 2020 vintage offers both immediate charm and the depth to develop further in bottle.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in colour, this wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and plums, layered with violet, subtle spice and delicate notes of cedar. The palate is generous and rounded, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral character that reflects Saint-Émilion’s limestone terroir. A balanced, medium- to full-bodied Bordeaux, it finishes with dark fruit, gentle chocolate tones and a persistent savoury freshness. It is approachable after some aeration, but should gain added complexity over the next 8–12 years when well stored.

Production
The vineyards of Château Berliquet are planted on the limestone and clay soils characteristic of Saint-Émilion, providing both richness and natural freshness. Grapes are generally harvested by hand and carefully selected before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is then matured in oak, allowing the fruit, tannins and mineral structure to integrate while preserving the character of the vintage.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after decanting for approximately 1–2 hours, particularly while the wine is young. Its ripe fruit and supple structure make it an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, veal and hearty mushroom dishes. It also pairs naturally with mature hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Cheddar.
